About

Lanarc has been actively working with communities to plan and implement inspired futures for over 30 years. Recognizing that our world is changing at an increasingly rapid pace, our team seeks solutions that incorporate current science, technology, and thoughtful design – preparing our communities for successful and resilient futures.

The original Lanarc, established in 1986, offered planning, landscape architecture, and environmental design services. The company’s philosophy was to move beyond standard practice by integrating science and new knowledge into planning and design solutions.

In 2015, Lanarc was re-established as a boutique firm that continues to follow a philosophy of integrated and science-based design and planning. Our five principals – David Reid, Don Crockett, Jana Zelenski, Kate Evans, and Bob Lilly – lead our firm with a current staff of ten. As landscape architects, planners, and engagement facilitators, Lanarc offers a diverse range of professional skills and services. Our company is known for our commitment to thoughtful design and for innovations in the areas of landscape architecture, stormwater management, climate change adaptation, urban environmental services, community engagement, visualizations, and communications.

With offices in the Lower Mainland and on Vancouver Island (Nanaimo and Victoria), the Lanarc team focuses on implementing global ideas and best practices within the unique context of British Columbia communities.

Lanarc works with clients in municipal, regional, provincial, and federal government, institutional organizations, private developers, and complementary consulting professions, providing us with a broad perspective on integrated planning and design. We strongly believe that multi-disciplinary teams which include professionals with expertise in a wide range of knowledge areas bring value to our clients.  We have been following this integrated approach for decades, combining design and science for innovative results.
