The original Lanarc, established in 1986 in Nanaimo, BC, was started by principal David Reid to offer planning, landscape architecture, and environmental design services. This is where the Lanarc philosophy of innovation and commitment to creating resilient communities began. In recent years, there were company mergers to become HB Lanarc, and then Golder Sustainable Communities Group (a division of Golder Associates Ltd.).
In 2015, recognizing a need to continue to be nimble and responsive to the needs of our clients and our services, Lanarc was reestablished as a boutique firm, led by four principals – David Reid, Don Crockett, Jana Zelenski, and Kate Evans. Lanarc's principals have been working closely together for decades. As landscape architects, planners, and designers, Lanarc offers a diverse range of professional skills and services. Our company is known for our commitment to thoughtful design and for innovations in the areas of stormwater management, climate change adaptation, urban environmental services, public engagement, and economic sustainability. With offices in the Lower Mainland, and on Vancouver Island, the Lanarc team focuses on implementing global ideas and best practices within the unique context of western Canadian communities.
